Smart Systems Laboratory

In response to growing activity in the marketplace around the development and application of smart systems, the University of Hertfordshire’s School of Engineering and Technology has set up a high-spec laboratory on the College Lane Campus. The Smart Systems Lab’s cutting-edge and comprehensive facilities are helping to attract and develop top engineering talent. The well-planned lab hosts speech and gesture recognition technology, as well as multi-touch interfaces, smartphones and tablets, sensors and actuators. Its networking infrastructure offers teaching, research and development opportunities around encryption and security of embedded M2M systems, digital and data communications and private and cloud-based service aggregation platforms.

Students, staff, and industry contribute directly to the thematic research projects which are taking shape in the Smart Systems Lab. The thematic focus areas are, home and buildings, vehicle communications/intelligent transportation, assisted living and healthcare services.
